About weighted blankets
The weighted blanket from CURA - the new way of sleeping!
Over 12 years positive experiences from health care!
For over 3 million Swedes, it is far from self-evident to wake up alert and well-rested. The reasons are countless why so many people find it hard to come to rest at bedtime. General anxiety and stress or too many things one has to do in everyday life often leads to involuntary awakening during the night, resulting in impaired sleep and quality of life. About 1 million Swedes are medicating for their sleep disorders and are at risk of suffering from sad side effects.
Weighted blankets in health care
Within Swedish health care, the weighted blankets have been successfully used for over 12 years, to help people get to rest.
Many work therapists have long advocated that pressure on the body during sleep is both relaxing, soothing and sleep inducing. You fall asleep faster, sleep longer and do not wake up as often.
Patients with the following diagnoses have then been offered to try a weighted blanket through, for example, a work therapist:
- Aspergers syndrome
- Psychosis & poor psychological health
- Acquired brain damage
- Neurological illnesses
- Children and adults with ADHD
There are specific prescription criteria required, such as severe sleeping problems combined with great motoric worry to be allowed to borrow a blanket for a limited time.
Cura pushes the price
Up until now it has been unrealistic for an individual consumer to purchase his/her own weighted blanket since the price has been so high, from around 7000 SEK and upwards.
We are proud to be able to offer weighted blankets of the highest quality to a substantially lower price than what you pay through health care.
We also provide a 10 year warranty on function and sewing and can guarantee that no one used the blanket before you. The weighted blanket is a hygiene product.
The CURA blanket is a medical device
All CURA® blankets are registered as medical devices with the Swedish Medical Products Agency:
LVFS 2003:11, LVFS 2001:7, LVFS 2001:5
The CURA blanket suits all!

The embracing and massage-like effect of the weighted blanket releases your body´s own feel-good hormones that enables the you to settle down faster, increases your body awareness and makes you relax. These positive effects are good for everyone, not just those who suffer from sleeping disorders due to medical reasons.

Children and teenagers
Many children today suffer from sleeping problems. Some are due to neuropsychological reasons, but they can also be due to stress and worry. Regardless of what the reason is, we know that you sleep better under a weighted blanket. You feel calm and safe, you hopefully sleep all night, and have more energy when you wake up in the morning.
If your child or teenager suffers from stress, anxiety or sleeplessness, a weighted blanket can be a natural way to help them sleep better. The feeling of sleeping with a weighted blanket is like the feeling of being hugged or embraced, and that is the reason why weighted blankets have been used within Swedish health care for years, especially for children with autism.
Be careful with choosing a blanket that is of a suitable size and weighted for your child. However, we don´t recommend that children under the age of 5 use weighted blankets during the night.
