Have you ever thought about how much time we spend in bed? On average, it’s a third of our life – a considerable amount of time where we are in direct contact with the fabric of our bed linen and sheets. This makes choosing the right ones that much more important.
With so many bed linen options available, making the right choice can be overwhelming. Let us guide you through the CURA bed linen range, so you can find the perfect match for your needs and preferences.
All our bed linen families, CURA Satina, CURA Crisp Cotton, and CURA Lyocell Cotton, contain 50 to 100% cotton.
Cotton is a soft, breathable, and completely natural fabric choice, known for its durability and versatility. It also has excellent temperature-regulating properties, helping to keep you comfortable throughout the night, whether it's warm or cool.
Lyocell is a 100% biodegradable, plant-based fibre derived from wood cellulose. With its long fibres, lyocell offers a soft, cool feel and a smooth surface. It’s one of the most breathable fabrics available, providing excellent moisture absorption to keep you dry and comfortable during the night.
Moreover, TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibres, like the ones used in our CURA Lyocell Cotton bed linen, are renowned for their eco-friendly closed-loop production process. The trees used in production require no fertilisers, pesticides, or irrigation, making lyocell a truly sustainable fabric choice. This is the perfect option for anyone who values both comfort and environmental responsibility.
When it comes to our pure cotton bed linen, CURA Crisp Cotton and CURA Satina, aside from their thread count, the primary difference lies in their weave. While both are made from high-quality cotton, each offers a distinct feel that suits different preferences.
Cotton percale offers a high level of breathability, making it an excellent choice for staying cool during warm nights. The tight percale weave gives the fabric a crisp, smooth texture with a matte finish. It’s durable, resistant to pilling, and softens with each wash – much like linen – increasing comfort over time.
Cotton sateen, on the other hand, provides a silky texture with a slight sheen, offering a thicker, more luxurious feel. It’s softer to the touch compared to percale, making it a great option for those who prefer a smooth, elegant sleeping surface. Sateen tends to feel a little warmer, which is perfect for cooler months or for sleepers who enjoy a cosy feel all year round.
The difference between sateen and satin can be confusing, as both refer to fabric with a satin weave. Here's a quick overview:
All CURA bed linen has a thread count of either 200 or 300. While thread count is often considered a marker of quality, it’s only one part of the equation. A higher thread count typically means a denser fabric, which can feel more luxurious but might also retain more warmth.
For this reason, our CURA Crisp Cotton range is designed with a slightly lower thread count to enhance the fabric’s lighter, summery feel, while our CURA Lyocell Cotton and CURA Satina ranges have a higher thread count to promote their luxurious hotel-like quality and smooth feel.
We hope this guide has helped you better understand the differences between our bed linen families. Each one offers something unique and hotel-like, but whichever you choose, you can trust that you’re investing in high-quality, comfortable, and durable bed linen.
